Good series. Good humor. It's actually one of those series where the leading lady is not a damsel in distress (unlike Jenny from Ghost Fighter). She makes sure she gets what she wants in her own way. That turns out to be very inconveniencing to her friends, and funny to us viewers.
A bit of spoilers.
This is a very weird movie, but not in a disturbing sense. You'll discover that Haruhi has an alien friend with super human powers. You'll also discover that Haruhi may only be the "real" thing in the world. That is some deep Philosophical stuff in there. I was impressed by how much this series helped me in picturing Rene Descartes' methodological skepticism. Sorry for rambling but there are really good existential Philosophies that were raised in that series. You get to ponder over them but you don't get a headache when you do.
